Year 10 Trip to Manchester Airport

On Tuesday this week, staff took a group of Year 10 students to the Manchester Airport Aerozone to learn about potential careers in the aviation industry. Students were taken on a tour of Terminal 2, where they were shown various working roles in action. Two separate guests speakers then delivered valuable inputs about the finances and infrastructure of Manchester Airport group, with a focus on artificial intelligence. Students were then given the opportunity to explore the Aerozone, where they moved around a carousel of interactive experiences. These included opportunities to role play being airport cabin staff, fire crew, security staff and duty free staff. Students also attempted landing an aeroplane on a flight simulator - with mixed results

Year 9 Knutsford Rugby Boys - Rugby Festival in Cardiff

13 of our Year 9 students have been selected to represent Knutsford RFC U14's team, to play in a Rugby festival on Saturday 22nd March 2025. The rugby team have been invited to play at the famous Cardiff Arms Park involving other teams from Wales and a team from Ireland. On Friday evening 21st March, the teams are going to watch the elite players of Cardiff Blues vs The Lions before their own fixtures unfold. We wish them the best of luck!

Year 12 Media Trip - Berlin

Over half term our Year 12 Media students and their teachers went to Berlin. They visited lots of museums, including The Photography Museum, The Computer Game Museum The DDR Museum and The Checkpoint Charlie Museum. They went to the top of the TV Tower and watched a screening of a film at the Film Festival in the iconic Zoo Palast Cinema. They also did some sight-seeing, taking in the Holocaust memorial, the Berlin Wall and the Reichstag. Thank you to the staff who gave up their half terms to take our students on this amazing trip.

The Annual Rotary Youth Speaks Competition

Knutsford Academy was delighted to host the annual Rotary Youth Speaks Competition on Tuesday this week. This is a public speaking competition and a fantastic opportunity for young people to build confidence and develop ambition. The event aims to give our students a platform to speak passionately about topics that matter to them. Our three teams competed against Didsbury High School, The County High School Leftwich and Weaverham High School. We are delighted to tell you that our Year 9 team were runners-up in the Intermediate category and the Year 10 team won the Seniors category! They were amazing and made us very proud!

Ignition Dance Company: 025 Stoke Festival

Bringing together the very best in local, upcoming talent, 025 Dance will see 55 dance companies take over the Stoke Regent Theatre stage, to perform in celebration of this year’s theme, ICONIC! Knutsford's Ignition Dance Company contributed to the opening night of the two-week festival with their new piece 'Madame X' in celebration of the Queen of Pop Madonna. A huge congratulations to all the students involved on a fantastic performance, you really did the school proud! The company will be performing Madame X at this year's annual Dance Festival on Wednesday 2nd April.

This week, a group of our Year 12 students visited Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. They had an exciting day experiencing one of the colleges in Cambridge, had a tour of the site and completed workshops on preparing for Higher Education.

Careers Fair, Great Success!

Our Careers Fair took place on Tuesday this week and was a huge success! We had 31 companies and colleges attend the event from a variety of industries, providing students with information on STEM careers, careers in the services and careers working with animals. We hosted representatives from technology firms, professional services and hospitality, with some local universities and colleges also in attendance. Thank you to all those involved in making the day memorable and informative for our students.

Cottons Hotel Visit

Today, our Year 10 Hospitality and Catering class visited Cottons Hotel & Spa in Knutsford to take part in a number of workshops. The students were able to make their own alcohol free mojito under the guidance of the Food and Beverage manager, and then watched a butchery demonstration by the Head chef, who showed students how to prepare a side of beef to cut into steaks. They were then treated to a fantastic steak lunch prepared by chef. An amazing experience! We are very lucky to have been paired with Cottons this year, through the Hotel and Schools programme, which links schools to hospitality establishments. We are already looking forward to the rest of the experiences we have planned for this year with Cottons and thank them for taking part in the scheme.

Over £800 for Save the Children!

Thanks to the generous donations from parents/carers, students and staff, we managed to raise over £800 on the last day of Term by holding a Christmas Jumper Day. Thank you to all those who took part and donated. Merry Christmas!

Food Bank Donations

Staff and students have been collecting food bank donations to support local families this Christmas. Volunteers from Hope Central Food Bank collected these items last Thursday and will ensure that they help those in the community at Christmas and into the New Year.
