Welcome to Knutsford Academy Sixth Form

Our main priority is for every student to achieve their full potential, regardless of their background or ability.

I am immensely proud of our Sixth Form. We have extraordinary students and a dedicated and talented group of staff. Our expectations are high, we insist on exemplary conduct and encourage all students to do their very best in all they do, including being involved in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities.

Over the last three years our Sixth Form has had a 100% pass rate at A Level, with 40% of grades at A or A* and a 100% pass rate at Level 3. This sees us as one of the top performing Sixth Forms in the country. We have an enviable track record in preparing our young people for their next steps in higher education and the world of work.

Mrs Karen Key, Headteacher

Providing personalised support at every step of the journey is crucial to our Sixth Form.

Because our average class sizes are smaller, teaching and learning is tailored to each student’s needs. We are a strong community, where students thrive socially as well as academically preparing for whatever the next step may be. At the same time as creating a warm, welcoming culture in which students feel supported, we respect their desire to be treated as young adults, and encourage independence, expression and choice.

Students can also  choose a wide range of Level 3 qualifications, including our highly successful Football Academy; a unique programme that combines a passion for football and opportunities for Soccer Scholar USA with recognised vocational qualifications or A Levels.

All students will complete a work experience placement and be supported in the progression to the next steps of their education whether it be University, Apprenticeships or employment.

Ms May Hawkins, Head of Sixth Form

Welcome from Jake and Sophie

As Head Students here at Knutsford Academy, we are going to tell you a little about why we chose Knutsford for our Sixth Form studies and the opportunities this fantastic Sixth Form offers you. We have both been students at Knutsford Academy since Year 7 which has allowed us to build strong relationships with teachers over the years, making a real difference already during our time in Year 12, as my teachers already know how we learn.

However, this is not unique to former students, all students whether new joiners or not get the same expertise and support. Some of the reasons we chose to stay at Knutsford are for the supportive learning environment, engaging lessons and the smaller class sizes, which mean you receive more individual attention from teachers and have more opportunities to contribute to class discussions. You are usually taught each subject by two teachers which allows you to get a broad perspective of the subject and different topics. This has really helped us develop both our confidence and understanding of subjects.

Being part of the Sixth Form has also given us the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities, including becoming members of the student council leading to being voted to represent the Sixth Form both as a parliament member and Head Student. It has been a fantastic experience that has helped us develop our leadership, communication and teamwork skills alongside our studies.

Welcome from our Student Council members

The Sixth Form launches you into an exciting new style of learning and develops your relationships with teachers and staff in a mature and respectful environment both in the classroom and communal Sixth Form areas.

As council members, we are delighted to be representing the Sixth Form this year and cannot wait to further develop Sixth Form life with your support and input! Collectively our goal is to represent the student voice, and we would be delighted to talk and listen to your suggestions and ideas to help give you the best Sixth Form experience or maybe even join us as a Sixth Form council member! Applications to join the council are welcomed every term.

We look forward to meeting you in September!
